A bit more myself + Post workout Smoothie

This week has been awesome for me! Especially getting my butt out the door, and sweating it up in the gym. With the whole gym thing, and also eating right, I feel so much better inside, and out. The idea of eating every 2-3 hours has been working perfectly for me. I don’t feel hungry, sluggish, tired, cranky, moody ( did I leave anything out… ). I have so much more energy, and with eating more foods that are natural, and are not chemically made, my body is screaming of joy! YAY!~ How’s my cold/flu/”I don’t know what the hell to call it” sickness going? There are days when I am feeling great, and then the sneezing and coughing start up. Or, when I start getting the chills, and have to wear 3 body suit thermals, that do not help, and have to blast my portable heater on me, and still feel cold. But… whose complaining?! =]

jojoba oil Yesterday, Dr Oz had a segment where a woman came on telling secrets of her Indian culture to having gorgeous, healthy hair. She said that her grandmother who had passed away at the age of 90 years old ( I think it was 90 or 80 yrs) had long, jet black hair, that was never dyed. Of course, I’m not one who can pray to have that good luck with my hair, because I’ve been killing my hair with dyes, highlights, and keratin treatments. But all I ask is to get rid of my nasty knots in the back of my hair, now showing, after my keratin treatment has faded… She then said that 2 products Neem Oil and Coconut oil were massaged onto to hair and it would help the hair and scalp of dryness, dandruff, itching scalp, etc ( I have 2 of those issues… OMG, I am not going there! ) So, I had some jojoba oil that was sitting on my vanity and said “why not just try it”. Yeah, I know it’s not Neem Oil or Coconut Oil ( which I did order, that you very much! ) but, I did buy the jojoba oil for my hair, so I gave it a shot!

high bun Here’s my Kim/Kourtney Kardashian high bun look! I massaged the oil all over my head, and put it into a high bun. I haven’t washed it out yet, because she said that you can leave it on for 30 mins, or even for the whole day, so… I will give you an update on how my hair feels, in my next post! Yipee!~ =P

steel oats Breakfast for the past 2 days has been this amazing, creamy yummy steel cut oats! I love, LOVE oatmeal, but these oats, with the texture it has was just awesome! For me, it was a lot more filling than regular oats, so I can workout and after 3 hours and my next meal! By the way, the recipe for this will be in my next post! I made it with my pressure cooker!! =]

11-7 lunch Yesterday’s lunch looked like this: Baked Empanada, 3 oz baby carrots and light babybel blue cheese wedge. Delicious!  I made baked empanada’s from Gina's Skinnytaste Site . With a few changes here and there, these were a fabulous to have for a filling and yummy meal! I made the mixture with 93% fat free ground turkey, sazon seasoning packet, garlic, 1 onion chopped, adobe, and 3 tbsp goya’s frozen sofrito ( I’ve read and heard that you should try to make your own sofrito, or buy the frozen goya sofrito for your latin meals, instead of the sofrito from the glass jars in the spanish section. The taste and quality is a lot better!) I even added a small slice of gouda cheese in one, and it came delish! YUMMY!~ xoxo =]

cuisineartblender For today’s post workout/ lunch, I need to make sure to not eat too much, since I’ll be going out to my in-laws and having dinner with them. I know I mentioned before that I’ve been using sparkpeople’s tracker, and it’s been really great for me! Logging in my food and workouts has been helpful with the choices that I make with food. Hubby kept mentioning that I looked like I lost some lbs, and it felt so good to hear that! =]

I took out my cuisinart blender, to make a post workout smoothie! Wish I could have a vitamix, but with it being so expensive, this one will do.

kalealmondsmoothie Here is what I used and did:

Almond K.A.M.G. Smoothie: ( K.A.M.G.= KALE, APPLE,MANGO,GREEK YOGURT) SERVES 2

Ingredients:

2 CUPS SILK ALMOND MILK ORGINAL, 1 CUP FROZEN MANGOS, 1 CUP FROZEN APPLES CHOPPED, 1 TBSP WHEAT GERM, 1 CUP TJ’S NON FAT GREEK YOGURT, 1 CUP CHOPPED KALE, 1 TBSP AGAVE NECTAR

Directions:

1. Add in your mangos, apples, almond milk into the blender and pulse on low. After it’s been blended, add in the kale, wheat germ, yogurt, and agave. Give it a good blend, and that’s it! Serve, and enjoy! =]

NOTES: Even though I am trying to cut out calories, I opted to use agave nectar instead of splenda because I wanted the smoothie to be all natural. You can certainly use splenda if that’s what you prefer! =]

Here’s the elliptical workout that I did today. You can print this workout out from Fitsugar Elliptical Printout workouts

  1. Hi Juju! It looks like your work out and new eating style are working well! I try to put a mayonnaise mask in my hair quarterly - it works wonders for your hair! Think about it....oil and egg yolks. Delicious for your hair! I look forward to hearing how your hair worked out!
